– Senior Leader, Global Consultancy Company

My Background

I started my career working in the UK financial services industry and after various HR roles I realized that my true passion lay in leadership and personal skills development. I was fortunate enough to work as a tutor at the Management Training Centre for NatWest – a major UK Bank, before leading the learning function for what is now Abrdn Investment Management. My increasing passion for coaching led to a move from Scotland to Sydney, Australia in 2004 and a return to full time education. I completed my Masters Degree in Coaching before undertaking several senior roles in FMCG and Insurance companies.

In 2006 I joined GE and worked initially as the Learning & OD Leader for their Commercial Finance business before joining Crotonville, GE’s corporate learning center of excellence. Specializing in leadership development, I was privileged to work extensively throughout the Asia Pacific Region partnering with innumerable leaders both face to face and increasingly through online, web based learning.

In 2021 I set up my own consultancy, providing design, delivery and coaching services and was thrilled to be invited to join the People Side team the following year.

Why I Work

“My main driver is to make a key difference to people, teams and organizations by enabling them to see what’s truly possible and turn that aspiration into practical, sustainable and positive change. I aim to both listen and share, while retaining a sense of humility. I never forget that I have as much to learn as anyone else in the room.”

When I Am Not Working

I’ve lived in Australia for close to 20 years and in October 2022 relocated from Sydney to Brisbane for a fresh challenge (and some warmer weather.) My passion revolves around travel photography, which has kept me busy and poor for many years. Pre-Covid, I spent extensive periods of time travelling overseas for work – sometimes as much as 5 months per year – and I’ve been incredibly lucky to document so many wonderful people, sights and cultures. I’m also a technology nerd, modern history lover, frustrated videographer and e-scooter enthusiast.
