More About Me

Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to work that brings people together to make progress on challenges that matter. Whether serving in city government, leading organizational operations, or coaching an executive team, I’ve seen how relationships, trust, and leadership behaviors shape what a group can accomplish.

My experience includes serving as Deputy Director and Interim Director of Kansas City Parks and Recreation and Chief Operating Officer of KIPP Kansas City. Those roles gave me firsthand experience with the competing demands leaders face: delivering results, supporting employees, navigating change, and responding to stakeholders with different needs and perspectives. Today, I bring those experiences into my work as a facilitator and coach. Through my practice, Lyons Share, and my teaching with the University of Kansas Public Management Center, I help leaders explore their assumptions, strengthen their relationships, and practice new ways of approaching difficult situations.

My style is curious, conversational, and practical. I enjoy making complex ideas accessible and creating space for honest conversations. I want participants to leave with a clearer understanding of themselves and concrete steps they can apply with their teams. What energizes me most is seeing people recognize their ability to make progress—and helping them take the next step.

When I’m Not Working …

I am originally from Phoenix, Az., but have called Kansas City, Mo. My home since 2001. I live with my wife and between us we have four children from previous marriages. Sadly, we lost one our daughters in 2023 from a very rare genetic disorder at the age of twelve.

During my down time I enjoy staying active. I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, enjoy working out, long walks in the early morning hours. I’m drawn to opportunities to explore, recharge, and gain a fresh perspective—especially when they involve hiking, biking, mountains, or water.

I also enjoy learning and following my curiosity wherever it leads. I’m an avid reader with a love for sci-fi and all things nerdy.
