MY BACKGROUND

Unbeknownst to me at the time, my journey to helping leaders and teams achieve their highest potential began with an odd fascination with serial killers during junior high school. I was obsessed with what drove their heinous and anti-social behavior. Naturally, my parents convinced me to choose another career path and I quietly attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, graduated with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, and settled into a career in IT. I quickly realized that cultivating strong, trusting relationships builds a culture of high performing teams and this re-ignited my first passion of studying human interactions. I began to insert myself into conversations around building culture through learning experiences and my passion for these conversations and for building high performing teams quickly became my platform. In addition to my knowledge of serial killers, I have over 30 years of varied business leadership experience and I bring of wealth of real-life examples and relatability to my clients and my learning curation.

WHY I WORK

Human interactions - how we can make them honest, open and authentic, is easily what makes me more and more passionate about the work I do every day. Seeing the spark in someone’s eyes when they realize that their interactions can bring joy AND help them to get more accomplished is a powerful thing! Seeing teams break down the barriers to trust and learn to communicate with empathy and caring has changed how I approach my work and even my life itself.

WHEN I AM NOT WORKING

Kentucky is easily one of the most beautiful of our 50 states and I love everything having to do with the rolling green pastures, sprawling horse farms and the great tradition of college basketball. My husband, Doug, and I have five grown sons and are now beginning to collect grandchildren – Graham and Lucy in 2016 and Ada in 2018. One of life’s greatest joys is watching their personalities take shape and seeing their delight (and sometimes frustration) as they learn to interact with others around them. The hope that glows in their eyes can light a thousand candles! When we are not crawling around on some playground equipment with our grandchildren, Doug and I love to explore new places, cultures and observe the intricacies of human interactions around the world. We’ve also developed the habit of chasing the little white ball around 18 golf holes and are striving to get a bit better, because we all know that mastering the game of golf is impossible!
