You have helped me grow professionally as a leader. I better understand the basic and advanced methods of leadership. This is due to the time spent in one on one calls and resources you provided me for my growth as a leader. I used what you shared with me to make my entire team better. I have no doubt that my last promotion was due in large part to the leadership skills you helped me develop.

Jill is honest with feedback. She encourages me to give feedback to others rather than discussing it with her. She encouraged self empowerment versus complaining about a situation. She is a very good facilitator, even with difficult, technical people talking in circles. Many discussions with her were energizing, a good reminder of my own power.

MY BACKGROUND

I grew up as a farm kid, which has shaped my work ethic from an early age. My dad worked a full-time corporate job from 9-5, and ran a full-time farm with both crops and livestock on nights and weekends. I learned how to wear many hats, use what I had, and work extremely hard to accomplish my goals. I started working as soon as I could, and typically held multiple jobs throughout high school and college. After beginning my career with a liberal arts degree, I knew I wasn’t done learning and went to grad school full-time at night, while working full-time during the day. It was in graduate school that I realized my calling for helping people increase their self-awareness and learn the skills necessary to get through life’s sticky interpersonal situations, and I focused on understanding conflict through the lens of Emotional Intelligence.

Toward the end of grad school I began my career in Human Resources, where I really got to test and apply my knowledge of managing conflict and developing talent. Over the last 20 years I have had an amazing opportunity to focus on talent management and leadership development in a variety of organizations and industries, including high tech manufacturing, professional services, higher education, and healthcare. Some of my employers and clients include Emerson, Medtronic, United Healthcare, Donaldson Company, The University of Minnesota, Boston Scientific, KPMG, Dale Carnegie Training, Det-Tronics, GE Healthcare, and The University of St. Thomas.

Today, companies look to me to coach and develop their highest performing individuals and teams. I partner with them to identify development goals, and then help push them to overcome the hurdles in their path (both real and perceived). I especially enjoy coaching large groups of men and women who receive coaching as part of a larger, ongoing development initiative, like an institute, MBA degree, or accelerated development program.

WHY I WORK

I am truly passionate about helping individuals and teams thrive in their leadership journey and careers. Work can be so exciting and fulfilling, and I believe that everyone has a purpose and a calling. I am committed to helping everyone I work with to realize that for themselves and positively impact the people around them as well.

WHEN I AM NOT WORKING

I simply love the outdoors...even our frigid, snowy Minnesota winters! I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota with my husband, Allen, and our son, Kellan and daughter, Calliope. We get out and enjoy the serenity and perspective that nature gives us as often as we can. That includes camping across the US (in campers and tents), exploring state and national parks, swimming and splashing at numerous beaches and waterparks, and snowshoeing every winter. We love to fully experience the tundra as much as the tropics. I am passionate about self-care for myself and others, and regularly practice yoga, read for pleasure, grow a huge vegetable garden, and cook healthy, home-cooked meals for anyone who will come to the table to join us.
